SAWUBONA Receives $2,500 Grant from First County Bank for SecondConsecutive Year

Bridgeport, Connecticut — SAWUBONA is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a
$2,500 community grant from First County Bank, marking the second consecutive year that
the organization has received support from the bank.
Founded in 2021, SAWUBONA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to nurturing the
resilience of youth and their families through creative expression. Through partnerships
with community organizations, SAWUBONA provides programs that integrate mental
wellness, social-emotional learning, and the creative arts to help young people develop
healthy coping skills, build confidence, and strengthen connections with others.
“We are deeply grateful to First County Bank for their continued investment in the young
people we serve,” said Charles J. Morgan, MD, President and Founder of SAWUBONA.
“Receiving this grant for the second year in a row is both an affirmation of our mission and a
recognition of the importance of creating spaces where youth feel seen, heard, and valued.”
The grant will help SAWUBONA expand its summer programming, allowing the
organization to increase the number and variety of experiences available to participants.
Funds will support enhanced offerings in creative arts, including visual arts, music,
movement, creative writing, mindfulness activities, and social-emotional learning
experiences designed to foster resilience and emotional well-being.
Each summer, SAWUBONA provides opportunities for youth to explore their creativity,
develop leadership skills, and build supportive relationships with peers and caring adults.
The expanded programming made possible through this grant will enable the organization
to reach more young people and deepen the impact of its work.
“At SAWUBONA, we believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard, and believed in,” Dr.
Morgan added. “Partnerships with organizations such as First County Bank make it possible
for us to continue creating transformative experiences that help young people discover
their strengths and envision hopeful futures.”
SAWUBONA extends its sincere appreciation to First County Bank for its generosity and
ongoing commitment to strengthening the communities it serves.
